This week is Parkinson's Awareness Week (1–7 November 2011). With planned events and activities around the country, Parkinson's New Zealand is hoping to bring about awareness on the condition and highlight the work they do.

Parkinson's is a condition that affects one in every 500 people – both in men and women. It is more common late in life, but it is not unknown for people in their 20s, 30s and 40s to develop the condition.

Parkinson's New Zealand provides support and information for people with Parkinson's, their carers, families and health professionals.
