Giri Mahadevan

Giri graduated in Medicine and Surgery from University Otago in 1999. In the following 10 years he trained to become a vascular surgeon at hospitals in New Zealand and Australia. He obtained his Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in vascular surgery in 2009. On completion of training he was appointed consultant vascular surgeon at Middlemore hospital (Counties Manukau Health), where he continues to work today. He finds public work both challenging and rewarding as it presents a full spectrum of vascular diseases in a high deprivation population.

Giri Mahadevan is trained and practices the full spectrum of vascular, endovascular surgery and vascular ultrasound. He is a lecturer at South Auckland Clinical Campus, University of Auckland, where he undertakes teaching and assessing year 4 to 6 medical students. Giri participates with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeon in training future surgeons and Medical Council of New Zealand in supervision of house surgeons.
