About Dr Richard Sullivan

Dr Sullivan is a medical oncologist with a specialist interest in lung cancer, head, neck and brain tumours and mesothelioma.

Richard studied in Christchurch, Dunedin, Wellington and Auckland. He graduated from the University of Otago School of Medicine in 1994 and became a Specialist in 2004.

Richard is currently the Deputy Chief Medical Officer at Auckland City Hospital, the Director of Cancer and Blood Directorate at Auckland City Hospital and the Director of the Northern Cancer Network.

Richard is the principle investigator on several New Zealand lung cancer research trials He also sits on numerous national cancer-related committees and is currently the Co-Chairman of the National Adolescent Cancer Working Group.

Richard brings a strong focus on improving experiences and outcomes for his patients and their families when they find themselves embarking on the cancer treatment journey.

Every journey begins with a first step. Our patients first step is to get a referral from you as their GP or Specialist. Once you have provided the patients medical history and the results of recent investigations such as blood tests and scans, we will work towards ensuring the best possible outcome for your patient.

The referral information can be supplied by:
1. Via a Healthlink CareSelect portal using EDI canopycc
2. Via Medtechs Specialists & Referrals portal
3. Emailing us at admin@canopycancercare.co.nz or via fax (09) 638 7295
4. Completing and sending a referral form directly from our website. http://www.canopycancercare.co.nz/referrals

As soon as we have the referral information our Administrative Services Manager will contact the patient to make an appointment with one of our oncologists or haematologists.
